The records of the Fort Delaware society have been collected over the past 60–plus years, and contain many documents not found collectively in any other place. ann Cummings and her staff for helping find and catalog the Commissary records for Fort Delaware (see Chapter 4 for more details), which was a type of prison camp record that had not been known or studied before this time. The folks at the national archives were uniformly helpful when i was there, but i especially want to thank (now retired) archivist John vandereedt and Ms. He also provided much of the information that the Park had in its files about the Civil War era, and also did some offsite research for me.
